The first subway line in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, the 48-km-long No 1 also runs under the Qiantang River and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, added Huang. Construction of the line started in March 2007, and it is expected to be put into trial operation in June.
