Construction work on the south extension line of Shenyang Metro Line 2 is scheduled to start on Aug 30 and will be completed on Dec 31 in 2024, according to local authorities.

The south extension line will start from Quanyun Road and end at Taoxian International Airport’s T3 terminal, stretching 14.2 kilometers.

All eight stations are underground -- namely Taoxian Avenue station, Gaoshen East Road station, Quanyun 3rd Road station, Citizen Square station, Science Park station, Aviation Industrial Park station, New Terminal station and Taoxian Airport station.

Authorities said they will allow passengers to travel directly from downtown Shenyang to the airport by metro.
